XMIDI is both an extension to MIDI as well as a more convenient playback file format.

XMIDI provides a number of additional MIDI-style Control Change messages which greatly extend the range of composition and arrangement options available to the musician and application programmer.

This chapter contains descriptions of all of the Extended MIDI Control Change messages available in the current Miles Sound System release, together with explanations of their uses in XMIDI sequences, as well as descriptions of the XMIDI file formats that MSS uses.
